How Much Does Charging Your Iphone Effect The Battery Life

I just got the new iPhone, and I was wondering if you have to charge it in the middle of the day, like, even if it was a fresh battery in the morning.. how it effects the battery life, and if it's a bad thing to do. Thanks.
